RCIA – Becoming a Catholic

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

Are you interested in becoming Catholic or knowing more about the Catholic faith?

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is for non-Catholics desiring to become Catholics, or for Catholics who never made their First Communion and/or Confirmation, or never had much religious education.

The process is open to all persons, regardless of religious background or philosophical persuasion, who genuinely seek, by God’s grace, to live their lives in the distinctive Catholic Christian faith. The process allows adults to get baptized, receive first holy communion and get confirmed in order to fully embrace their Catholic faith.

Adult non-Christians can prepare for full initiation into the Catholic Church through Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist (Communion) at the Easter Vigil.

Adult non-Catholic Christians can prepare to be received into the Catholic Church and make Confirmation and Eucharist at Easter.

Adult baptized Catholics who have not yet received Confirmation and Eucharist can also prepare for them at Easter.

Also, adult baptized Catholics who wish to complete initiation can prepare to receive Confirmation at Pentecost next year.

Classes for RCIA – Adult Faith Formation starts in the middle of October.  If you or someone you know wishes to inquire into this process, please contact Giovanna Varlese at 917-832-6104 or email DRE.StMaryLIC.org and please complete the form below to register for the RCIA program.  Thank you
